Description
NOTE: 4WD/AWD required in winter with snow tires (Thanksgiving through late March). Chains can be rented in the neighborhood for $30/day.
Our 2,700 square foot, 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath, custom home is situated on an acre, adjacent to National Forest and just 3 miles from Purgatory Ski Resort .
Only 3 miles from Purgatory Ski Resort and 25 miles from historic downtown Durango, yet the residence offers privacy and seclusion and tons of amenities - pool table, large outdoor space, views, 2 separate living spaces, Direct TV, Gas grill, super fast Starlink WIFI (around 100mbs), washer/dryer.
Bed Configuration:
Master - King with Ensuite Bath (Main Floor)
2nd Master - King with Ensuite Bath (2nd Floor)
3rd Bedroom- Queen (2nd Floor)
4th Bedroom - 2 sets of bunk beds (twin over twin) and 3 beds in one of the bunk beds with TV - (2nd Floor)
This home is pet friendly! We allow a maximum of 2 dogs max and the pet fee is $40/day (for a max $250 per stay).
Book at least a week and a 10% discount is automatically applied (Excludes Christmas/New Years).
Stay with us and we offer DISCOUNTS on both summer (white water rafting, horseback riding etc.) and winter (ski/snowboard rentals, sleigh rides, snowmobile tours etc.) activities.

Please note that, like most properties in the area, this home does not have AC, as it is uncommon for homes at this elevation. Temperatures inside the property are easily managed by using fans and opening the windows at night when temperatures drop into the 40s.

Ah-Mazing Rental-The BEST

Wonderful Private Getaway
This is a fantastic rental home just down the road from Purgatory. It is about 30 minutes from downtown Durango. First, I would like to say that the home is beautifully decorated and the Owners really make it feel like a home (I think the Owners stay there for extended stays). They have great beds, all the kitchen appliances and utensils you would ever need. They have blankets throughout the home, dog bowls to feed an entire kennel, and so many more wonderful touches throughout. We will definitely be looking to book this home when we return for our next family vacation.

Beautiful ski house
The house was amazing! House was fully stocked with everything you might need. Beautiful view! Perfect setup for a family with kiddos. House even had a perfect driveway that allows for sledding. Very close to Purgatory. The house is one of the last ones in the neighborhood so be prepared for it to be alittle difficult to get to on the winter with snow/ice! Breath-Taking Views, Hummingbirds & Family Time!
What a treat - this was the highlight of our Durango stay. A view from every direction - beautiful tall green trees and hummingbirds zipping by. The porch was nice to sit and listen and watch nature - hawks, hummingbirds, robins deer, butterflies, rabbits, woodpeckers etc. with the lake in the background!
The house itself had plenty of space for our party of 7. The pool table was frequently enjoyed by us all - and large living room treated us with a family movie night! We were looking for a cabin with the "mountain top" feel but still have access to internet - and 26 Big Pine Trail was a home run! Big Pine Trail
Our group of 10/11 (for 2 days) really enjoyed this cabin! There was plenty of room for all of us. The kitchen was especially nice and roomy which was a plus for us as we tend to cook 2 meals a day at vacation rental properties. The kiddos loved the pool table upstairs. The location was perfect, not directly in town but close enough to enjoy shopping and the rodeo! We took advantage of the discounts they offer through local companies for white water rafting and an ATV tour. Our only complaint that absolutely cannot be helped by VRC was the amount of mosquitoes every night. We would have lovedd to use the deck space more at night for games, but even with citronella candles and coils going, we could not stay outside for long. I personally liked not having to do the long list of "take off the sheets, take all trash to dumpster, sweep floors, etc." upon checking out that most rental companies ask you to do. Great Place to Stay to Ski Purgatory - Right Across the Highway!
We were hesitant about staying on the mountain during the winter. In fact, when we arrived we called to see if there was another location we could stay at. They had 57 inches of show within the 2 days before we arrived. Definitely need snow tires, not just 4 wheel drive. The house was amazing and nicely kept. Beautiful Views for Miles
Recently our family stayed for a long weekend at this location. We were very pleased with the cleanliness of the home as well how well stocked the kitchen was for all our meal. The outside deck wrapped around two sides of the house giving us options for taking in the beauty. There were two master bedrooms in the house along with another queen bedroom. The fourth bedroom was a bit small and set up with bunk beds that would be great for younger kids, but we had to use that space for my daughter and her fiance, and it was a bit uncomfortable for them. There is no A/C in the house, but that was no problem at all. We loved opening the windows in the evening after the sun went down which cooled the house quickly. There were many fluffy blankets all around the house to cuddle up in while sitting out on the deck. Communication with Vacation Rental was informative and they responded quickly to our questions. Tree Top re-TREAT
Our family of 7 had the best stay and experience at the Tree Top house. The bedroom layout was ideal for comfort and privacy. The kitchen had literally everything a chef would need for a full sit down dining experience. Our kiddo's spent hours learning and playing pool. And they even built their own sledding lunge down the back of the property. Stunning
This home was absolutely stunning! Just taking that drive up to the house is breath taking, Colorado has the best views. If you had forgotten something, they would probably have it!
