Timbers & Tides is a chalet-style lakefront retreat tucked onto a quiet, wooded stretch of Spectacle Lake just outside Phelps. A soaring wall of windows fills the main living room with light and frames the lake from nearly every seat, while the elevated deck is where mornings start with coffee and evenings end with long western sunsets over the water. With a private sandy beach, a gentle swim area made for little ones, and about 2.4 wooded acres around you, this is a place built for slow mornings, long afternoons on the lake, and family memories around the fire.

Down at the water, a private sandy beach slopes gradually into the lake, and the water is only about 3 feet deep at the end of the dock, which makes it an easy, comfortable spot for kids to splash and swim. Two kayaks, a canoe, and life jackets in adult and kids' sizes are ready for exploring the shoreline, and you're welcome to tie up your own boat at the dock. The lakeside fire pit is the perfect place for s'mores and stargazing once the sun goes down.

Inside, cathedral ceilings and a fieldstone fireplace anchor the open main level, with the kitchen and dining area looking straight out to the lake. Upstairs, a loft with a king bed overlooks the living room below. The walkout lower level adds a second family room with a TV, two bedrooms, a full bath, and laundry. Central air keeps everyone comfortable in July, a whole-house Generac generator keeps the lights on through Northwoods storms, and Starlink internet means streaming and video calls work even out here.

PET POLICY

This property is pet-friendly! Up to 2 dogs are allowed for $40/night, maximum $250 per stay. No cats allowed. Please notify us upon booking if you are bringing a pet.

LAKES

Spectacle Lake is a 166-acre, full-recreation lake with moderately clear water, a mostly sandy bottom, and depths reaching 35 feet. At the property you'll find a sandy shoreline and swim area with a nice, gradual slope. Anglers can expect walleye, largemouth and smallmouth bass, and plenty of panfish, and a public boat landing maintained by the U.S. Forest Service makes launching easy. Nearby Kentuck, Dewey, and Imogene lakes are all within a couple of miles if you want to explore more water.

TRAILS

Phelps opens its town and county roads to ATVs and UTVs from May through October, connecting riders to more than 130 miles of routes that reach Eagle River, Conover, Land O' Lakes, and even Michigan's Upper Peninsula. In winter, the Phelps Snowmobile Club grooms about 40 miles of local trail that tie into Corridor Trail 6 and the roughly 600-mile Vilas County network. Trail maps are available from the Landover ATV/UTV Club and the Vilas County Map It app, which works even without cell service. Please check current trail conditions and follow all posted rules.

THE AREA

Timbers & Tides sits in the heart of the Phelps lake country, a short drive from town and about 25 minutes from downtown Eagle River, the Snowmobile Capital of the World and home to the 28-lake Eagle River Chain of Lakes. Land O' Lakes and the Michigan state line are close by, and the surrounding Nicolet National Forest offers hiking, biking, and quiet back roads to explore. When it's time to eat, the owners' favorites are The Heid Out Bar and Grill, The Nutty Squirrel, and the Chanticleer Inn, all in the Eagle River area.

GOOD TO KNOW

The home sits on a sloped, wooded lot with stairs down to the lake.

The large rock retaining walls along the lakeside are off-limits. Please do not climb on them.

The water is about 3 feet deep at the end of the dock. No diving, please.

Life jackets are required when using the kayaks and canoe.

The main-level fireplace is for the provided fire logs only. Please do not burn regular firewood inside.

Wood found on the property may be used in the outdoor fire pit.

TVs are streaming only. Please bring your own account logins.

The home is reached by a private gravel road.

The detached garage is reserved for the owners and is not available to guests.

Maximum occupancy is 6 guests and 4 vehicles, including trailers.

This is a non-smoking property, inside and out. Quiet hours are 10pm to 7am.

CANCELLATION POLICY

At Vacation Rental Collective, we understand the importance of flexibility for travelers when it comes to cancellations. Travelers are subject to the cancellation policy applicable to the specific booking platform on which they made their reservation. Guests are encouraged to review the cancellation terms and conditions provided by the booking platform at the time of booking and familiarize themselves with the specific terms and conditions applicable to their reservation. This applies, for example, to bookings made through Airbnb, VRBO, and other similar OTA sites.

When booking directly through us on our Vacation Rental Collective website, a non-refundable payment of $300 is required at the time of booking. This $300 payment is applied toward the total amount due and is only refundable within 72 hours of the time the booking is made. If your arrival date is within 30 days of booking, payment in full is required at the time of booking. Cancellations or changes to stay dates, including changes that result in a shortened stay, are not permitted within 30 days of arrival, and any such changes will result in a penalty. Cancellations or changes that are made within thirty (30) days of the arrival date forfeit the entire reservation amount, while cancellations made more than thirty (30) days in advance of your arrival only forfeit the $300 payment made at the time of booking. For reservations that are at least thirty (30) nights, the cancellation policy above increases to sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date. We do offer travel insurance.
