Black Bear (Unit 70) is located directly across the highway from Purgatory Resort and is a perfect base for your vacation no matter the season. Our townhome features 3 bedrooms & 2.5 baths, a gourmet kitchen with granite counters and stainless steel appliances includes a bar with seating and opens to the main living space and dining area, giving you plenty of space to relax.
Enjoy great views of engineer mountain and the ski slopes from either balcony or take a short walk to the beautiful community gazebo with space for outdoor dining as well as a fire pit and outdoor bbq area.
Bed Configuration:
Master Bedroom - King Bed with TV and Ensuite Bath (2nd Floor)
2nd Bedroom - King Bed with TV (2nd Floor)
3rd bedroom - 2 sets of Bunk Beds (Single Over Single (Upstairs)
The home is located near the Purgatory Flats trailhead, one of the finest and most scenic hikes in the area as well as a stocked pond for fishing. The master bedroom features a gas fireplace, TV and a balcony with amazing views of engineer mountain. The master bath includes double sinks, standing shower, and jacuzzi tub. There is a 1 car garage but you will not need it as you can catch the free shuttle or simply walk across highway 550 & be at the lifts in 2 mins.
The townhome is not pet friendly - please do not bring pets.
The 4% resort fee included in the quote is the required resort fee that must be charged and does not allow access to the Durango Mountain Club. For an additional (and optional) 4% resort fee, you will have access to the Durango Mountain Club which includes an outdoor heated pool with slide, outdoor hot tub and workout facility. When booking, just advise if you would like us to add the additional 4% resort fee.
Book at least a week and a 10% discount is automatically applied (Excludes Christmas/New Years).
Stay with us and we offer DISCOUNTS on both summer (white water rafting, horseback riding etc.) and winter (ski/snowboard rentals, sleigh rides, snowmobile tours etc.) activities.
Cancellation Policy: A non-refundable payment of $300 is required at the time of booking. This $300 payment is applied toward the total amount due and is only refundable within 72 hours of the time of the booking is made. If your arrival date is within 30 days of booking, payment in full is required at the time of booking. Cancellations or changes to stay dates, including changes that result in a shortened stay, are not permitted within 30 days of arrival, and any such changes will result in a penalty. Cancellations or changes that are made within thirty (30) days of the arrival date, forfeit the entire reservation amount while cancellations made more than thirty (30) days in advance of your arrival only forfeit the $300 payment made at the time of booking. For reservations that are at least thirty (30) nights, the cancellation policy above increases to sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date. We do offer travel insurance.

This is our second year at Black Bear, last year we rented the "biggest" townhouse in the community and we did not want to rent it again. Bigger is not always better. We were very pleased with this year's townhouse. It was very well equipped and clean. The two king sized beds were very comfortable, which was a nice change from last year's experience. The on-demand shuttle is wonderful for the skiers in the group, and it was also appreciated by our non skiers because it was easy for them to join us for lunch. Other reviews complained about the carpet. It is true is looks a bit worn, but then it is a rental property and unfortunately people are not always as responsible as they should be, so there are stains. That did not bother us at all. My greatest compliment is I will be renting this townhouse next season.

Great Stay - Great Locations
The home was great for our family and management was very responsive! Trails are within walking distance and directly across from Purgatory. Lodging staff was great for use of hot tub and pool. During our stay the coffee maker quit working (it happens) and the home could definitely use new frying pans which management has indicated they will handle. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend!
Thanks for your feedback. The coffee maker (we buy them by the dozen as they routinely need to be replaced) and frying pans have been replaced. We would have replaced them during the guests stay had they contacted us during their stay.

Fantastic January at Purgatory

My family of 6 stayed for 3 weeks at 70 Black Bear and had a wonderful time. The townhouse was comfortable and well stocked. Upon arrival we did need a few items that were missing and Premier Vacation Rentals was incredibly helpful and promptly got us the items. They are probably the best management company that I’ve experienced.
While the house supposedly can sleep 7, in reality it really sleeps 4 or 5 in bedrooms and another person in the living room on the pull out sofa. The 3rd bedroom is tiny and has room for only a single pull out sofa bed. There were nice thick, comfy mattress toppers for the pull out beds.
70 Black Bear is right across the street from Purgatory. It’s more of a very busy road than street so we used the shuttle service to and from the slopes. We loved the convenience of door to door service. Also. we found a trail head nearby for the San Juan National Forest. Also, try the food truck at The Nugget. They have great sliders!
I would recommend this townhouse and definitely Premier Vacation Rentals!

Wife, dog and me

We really liked the condo for the 3 of us. Nice to pull into the garage to unload, plus keeping truck out of the weather was nice too.The downstairs, our main hangout, and master bathroom were very comfortable. Master TV area needs remodeling for larger tv. Twin beds in 2nd bedroom could be issue for adults, 3rd “bed” room is a small study with a small pull out. I walked across hwy 550 easily with my gear with no problem to ski lift. Great area to walk dog and awesome trail head down the street! We planned to cook and eat at the condo, luckily, due to resort area closing when lifts shut down. Think that is Covid related. A few restaurants 3-4 miles down hwy, for nearest market your driving to Durango. As for Purgatory Ski resort, I don’t know if this is the Covid affect, but I found it to be dull. I really struggled to put my finger on this felling. Nice open runs, no lift lines, blessed with good snow, but I just felt some lack of connection? Is it Covid? Is it the resort name? Is it me? Anyway, nice roomy, quiet condo in good out door setting.

Great Condo! Great Location! Perfect for our family of four!!
We stayed the week of Christmas...this condo had everything g we needed (even a crock pot). Tons of dishes and towels, even a sandwich maker. Both fireplaces were amazing, just flip a switch! We will definitely be back!

2 good size bedrooms + additional sleeping/lounge area with 2 decks and 2 fire places. Fully stocked kitchen. Was perfect for the family for e nights in the mountains.

Durango townhouse
Great condo. Everything was well stocked, beautiful furnishings. I unfortunately had a ski accident so we had to leave a day early. Broke my ankle, sprained my knee and dislocated my shoulder all on the right side. Since we left early I didn't see the checkout email. Sorry would have thought the checkout instructions would have been in the info book at condo. everything was as described in property description. We would definitely rent here again.

Perfect family getaway

We had an amazing the vacation at this rental in Durango. We had my fiance, his son and our dog staying there. We have the perfect amount of space and everything we needed right at our fingertips. We even ended up getting engaged there so we will definitely be back there at some point to relive the moment.

Durango Getaway from the Heat of Arizona

We had a terrific stay at Black Bear 70 condo north of Durango! The condo is beautiful and was perfect for our family of 4 (2 adults, 1 teen and 1 Portuguese Water Dog). We loved being right across the street from Purgatory for mountain biking, steps away from a small lake for our dog to swim in and just a short trip to town for exploration. Travelers should keep in mind that the second bedroom has twin beds, which we forgot are very tiny! Our son was fine however...other than the mattress kept sliding off the boxspring! 😀 Also, the water is very full of minerals...use of vinegar in the dishwasher and a LOT of moisturizing lotion for your hands and body is a must. Our dog made friends with a local marmot...every morning walk they would talk to each other...well, the marmot would scream at our dog and she would bark back at it. Quite funny.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the cooler weather. There is construction going on right in front of the condo, noisy until 5 or 6 pm. Most of the dishes we used were dirty from the get go. Could use a new coffee pot and towels. However, we would not hesitate to stay here again.

Very lovely condo with all the necessities available! 20 minutes to downtown Durango and
also 20-25 minutes to Silverton. Our own personal lake "Twilight Lake" which we walked around everyday with our dog, Sophie! We even saw some dear and marmots. Cool place!

It was everything we expected and very comfortable lodging for our family of five. Spacious, great accomadations, comfortable, relaxing, and had everything you would need to cook, clean, etc.
Black Bear Mountain Townhomes

this is our 4th time renting through Durango Premier Vacation Rentals, 3rd time at Black Bear - couldn't be happier. Far enough from the resort to have peace and quiet, close enoh to play every day and watch the slopes. Bordered by woods and a nearby lake, the property is great for walking (both with and without dogs depending on which unit you rent), and very safe. As usual, Keith is attentive to absolutely anything you may need and is readily available and helpful - his courtesy and consistent aid is why we will continue renting from him.

Christmas in the Mountains

We loved staying at Black Bear 70. The property was perfect for our family of 5 plus two dogs to spend the Christmas holidays. Having access to an attached garage was an add plus. The shuttle service to the resort was great! Just a phone call away and you had door to door service. We will definitely be back!

Excellent Condo
Our visit occurred at the very end of October so the area was very quiet, which made for a relaxing visit. The hike on the nearby Purgatory Flats trail was excellent.

Overall a very good stay. Biggest complaint is that almost every single dish in the kitchen was dirty. That includes glasses, plates, silverware, pots/pans etc.
