Our 5 bedroom, 4 bathroom, 4,300 sq. ft. luxury home is absolutely breathtaking! Perched high above the valley floor and just a short walk to the slopes, it has unobstructed views of the nearly 14,000 foot peaks of the Needles Mountains, the signature range that inspired Jean Claude Killy to describe Purgatory as “the most beautiful scenery this side of the Italian Alps."
Inside the home you will find a 1200 square foot master retreat on the lower level that includes incredible views of the Needles Mountains from the King bed, two person Jacuzzi tub and shower. The master retreat also includes a two-sided gas fireplace between the bedroom and the Jacuzzi tub, “RO” water, “instant-hot” water, sink and refrigerator. The adjacent bedroom features a queen bed and a crib. The dressing /vanity area has heated floors and the walk in closet and laundry is the size of the garage bay above. The entry level of the home has two bedrooms (Queen Bed in one and Bunk Beds in the other (single over single) and a full bath (Japanese soaker tub).
The main level offers an enviable gourmet Kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances and amazing mountain views. The massive stone fireplace (wood burning with gas starter) reaches 25’ to the spectacular structural beams and honed tongue and grove wood ceiling (illuminated for night ambiance). Perfect for entertaining, the great room, dining room and kitchen are all open to a wall of windows and spacious deck to enjoy the amazing alpenglow when the sun hits the peaks of the Needles range. There is a private deck on each of three floors of this incredible home and the deck off the Main Living Space features a gas fire put. Take the spiral stair case up to the extraordinary loft which includes a full bathroom, full bar (wine cooler, refrigerator, and dishwasher), TV and a game/ puzzle table.

Book at least a week and a 10% discount is automatically applied (Excludes Christmas/New Years).
Stay with us and we offer DISCOUNTS on both summer (white water rafting, horseback riding etc.) and winter (ski/snowboard rentals, sleigh rides, snowmobile tours etc.) activities.
Cancellation Policy: A non-refundable payment of $300 is required at the time of booking. This $300 payment is applied toward the total amount due and is only refundable within 72 hours of the time of the booking is made. If your arrival date is within 30 days of booking, payment in full is required at the time of booking. Cancellations or changes to stay dates, including changes that result in a shortened stay, are not permitted within 30 days of arrival, and any such changes will result in a penalty. Cancellations or changes that are made within thirty (30) days of the arrival date, forfeit the entire reservation amount while cancellations made more than thirty (30) days in advance of your arrival only forfeit the $300 payment made at the time of booking. For reservations that are at least thirty (30) nights, the cancellation policy above increases to sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date. We do offer travel insurance.

Please note that, like most properties in the area, this home does not have AC, as it is uncommon for homes at this elevation. Temperatures inside the property are easily managed by using fans and opening the windows at night when temperatures drop into the 40s.
Great but what you need to know
My family had a great time there. Plenty of room . The kids enjoyed the loft where they played their PS4 a lot. We could have used more silverware and some more assortment of cooking pans, but we made do. The stairs was a bit much. There were a couple of us who could have really used the unavailable elevator. All the steps were very hard. We just didn’t realize so many steps. Should be in article when advertised. View was breath taking and all in all a very beautiful place.

Family staycation
This was our second time renting the Cantilever. Its the one unit that provides our large family with plenty of space for everyone. We had four families adults and children and was plenty comfortable.
The views are stunning, all amenities in working condition.

Lovely Cantilever Lodge
Beautiful home with all the amenities needed for our family of 12 + 3 babies. Property was clean, location was perfect for our walk to the slopes each day. Views from the giant picture windows were fantastic. Only issue was wifi - took us a while (about 12 hours) to get it working properly, and while the tech company we spoke to was very responsive, it took them a few calls and a stop at the house to get it up and running. Once it was addressed, no issues for the remainder of the days. One quick note - we brought extra paper towels, toilet paper, dishwasher pods and trash bags. Would recommend the same for anyone who has a group of 12 or more and is staying for 4-5 days.

A great gathering spce

Having stayed at this property annually for over 10 years, it is the perfect gathering spot for the family dinners. The large open Great Room is very comfortable and the large Wolf cooking range with it's two ovens is perfect.

Over the top property

This house is amazing! There was plenty of room for family and friends to gather together, but also have a minute to unwind alone.
The property gave good directions on how to get into the home, the home was clean, there were plenty of amenities for cooking. We went at the end of summer, but would like to return in the winter for skiing because it is a hop, skip and jump from the ski slopes.
We had to fumble with the sauna a little bit but over all it worked well and was a treat after a long day exploring and rafting.

Expansive house with wonderful amenities and views! Large kitchen. Well supplied. Plenty of space to move around. Only negative is the elevators were locked. Understand new law with home elevators. We had no problems, but many steps to climb for some of the guests. Great time!

Summer escape

Our group of friends had a wonderful time. The Cantilever Lodge is ideally located between Durango and Silverton at Purgatory Ski area so that we were only a short drive to many activities in the area. The Purgatory area itself offers many activities right out the door. We rode OHV side by sides all over the Purgatory mountain area and had a wonderful time. Will definitely travel to the area again and highly recommend the Cantilever Lodge!

This home was perfect for gathering our group together for breakfast and Apres skiing. The ample sized great room makes for the perfect place to cook and socialize in comfort without being crowded.

Great place for a family reunion

From the moment we arrived at the lodge we could tell it was what we wanted. There are great views from all the balconies and also from inside on the main floor and the loft. The location was important because we could travel to Silverton and Ouray to the north and Durango and Mesa Verde to the south and west. There was one bedroom that did not have curtains or blinds on a large window, but that was quickly taken care of with a phone call. Our families get together once a year at a different location and this place is one of the best.
