Aspen Ridge at Lake Vallecito is a completely remodeled home with open floorplan and expansive views of Vallecito Reservoir in the pines. This home is on over one acre and located just south of the Lake Vallecito Marina with easy year-round access. The living room has a wood burning stove, as well as an upgraded in-floor heat system that keeps the home toasty warm in the cooler months. The king primary bedroom is on the main level with an ensuite bathroom. The entire main level has glass paned exterior doors flanked by windows leading to the the large covered outdoor living area with views of the lake. The main level also includes a guest bathroom and a laundry room. The upper level has 2 bedrooms and a 2nd TV/play area with its own balcony facing the lake. The game room is set up in the garage for family fun and is usable any time of year. Such a great deck with plenty of seating, views and a grill!
All TV's are Smart Samsung TV's and are set up with Samsung TV Plus channels. Guests can also log into their own streaming services, such as Netflix.
BED CONFIGURATION:
Bedroom #1: King Bed (main level - TV)
Bedroom #2 - Queen bed (upstairs)
Bedroom #3 - Twin over Full Bunk Bed (upstairs)
LOCATION: In the heart of the Lake Vallecito recreation area, you are 1 mile from the marina, hiking, biking and ATV trails, fishing, hunting, ice fishing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling - the San Juan wilderness area is at your doorstep! Vallecito also has a few restaurants and general stores. Appx 25 miles to downtown Durango and 50 miles to Purgatory Ski Resort.
Consistent with most Colorado mountain areas, the home does not offer air-conditioning.
In winter (November through April), 4WD is required. It is NECESSARY that you have a four-wheel-drive vehicle, vehicles with medium to high clearance and winter/snow tires. Although the roads and driveway are well-maintained, the road leading up to the home is somewhat steep and will be snow packed and slick.
Cancellation Policy: A non-refundable payment of $300 is required at the time of booking. This $300 payment is applied toward the total amount due and is only refundable within 72 hours of the time of the booking is made. If your arrival date is within 30 days of booking, payment in full is required at the time of booking. Cancellations or changes that result in a shortened stay, that are made within thirty (30) days of the arrival date, forfeit the entire reservation amount while cancellations made more than thirty (30) days in advance of your arrival only forfeit the $300 payment made at the time of booking. For reservations that are at least thirty (30) nights, the cancellation policy above increases to sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date. We do offer travel insurance.
Stay with us and we offer DISCOUNTS on both summer (white water rafting, horseback riding etc.) and winter (ski/snowboard rentals, sleigh rides, snowmobile tours etc.) activities.
Please note that, like most properties in the area, this home does not have AC, as it is uncommon for homes at this elevation. Temperatures inside the property are easily managed by using fans and opening the windows at night when temperatures drop into the 40s.

This was a great home for our trip to Durango. We especially enjoyed the back porch. The views of the lake and the forest were beautiful, we loved the fire table, and enjoyed our meals at the dining table on the deck. The kitchen was well equipped, and things worked well. The surroundings were very quiet and the beds were comfortable so we all slept good.

Returned Because It's Beautiful At Vallecito

We had a wonderful stay. The home was clean and comfortable and very well equipped. We had quite a bit of success fishing and enjoyed some nice Spring weather. This was our second stay at this home and we intend to return in the Fall. When I called the management staff for help with Wifi, I received a call back almost immediately and was helped by a kind and thoughtful staff member.

Great house with amazing views

The house is beautiful!!! The back porch is great. We spent alot of time out there. The house has so many extras, you can tell the owners really care. The views are amazing! We loved staying at this house and we will come back to Vallecito Lake.

Peaceful Place with a Lake View
Love the location of the property, up in the mountain overlooking the lake. Our family spent most of the time on the porch, having family meals and reading by the fire pit. Cool breeze, some drizzles during the day, deers passing by, so quiet and friendly neighborhood. As a bonus, our class B RV can drive up and down the mountain, parking is flat and spacious. Definitely would book again.

Beautiful weekend getaway!

My husband, our son and I stayed here with another couple and their son for our annual anniversary trip that we do together. The house is so cute and fit our needs perfectly. It is situated above the lake, not on the lake, which can be hard to tell by the pictures, but the view is amazing! We enjoyed our nights on the back patio with the propane firepit. The house was clean and we appreciated the extra things available like coffee pods, baggies and batteries. There were some spider webs and a few spiders here and there but it didn't ruin our stay. The garage kind of smells like a litter box, which is strange (we assume it was from the trash), but again didn't ruin our stay as we didn't spend much time in there. Only about a 40 drive to downtown Durango we were able to explore the mountains of Colorado that this house is nestled in and still spend a day in Durango. The local stores are cute and have necessities if you forgot anything. Go to the General Store (the first one you pass on the right going to the stores) over the Market. The Market is very expensive where the General Store is priced as I would expect. Also note that the stores close at 7 most days! I would definitely stay at this rental again!

Aspen Ridge
We loved our stay at Aspen Ridge. The house is so cozy and thoughtfully stocked. Incredible views from the big back deck as we grilled out. The Lake was so beautiful and peaceful. Very clean and comfy home. We went snowmobiling, hot springs, and shopping. We also enjoyed the local Weminuche Grill for appetizers and dinner only 10 minutes away. The kids had fun playing ping pong and foosball in the game room. We will definitely be back!
