This is a great family retreat with lots of space, very well set up for kid and pets, too! Things that make this home special are the well-stocked kitchen, outdoor hot tub and grill, reading/office room with books, puzzles and toys for all ages, fenced yard with doggie door, high chair, pack-n-play, kids dishes. The living room and bedroom both have Smart TV's with Netflix and DisneyPlus streaming services set up for guest use. Located in the Forest Lakes section of Bayfield, just outside of Durango and near Lake Vallecito. Come stay, play and relax!

LOCATION: The Forest Lakes area is 8 miles North of Bayfield, and 8 miles South of Lake Vallecito Recreation Area. Forest Lakes also has a playground and neighborhood lake for fishing - Lake Simpatico - with a walking trail around the lake. This home is appx 20 miles from downtown Durango and 50 miles from Pagosa Springs. There is plenty of dining, unique shops, and outdoor recreation in the surrounding area - including hiking, boating, skiing, fishing, snowmobiling, biking, hunting and more.
This home is pet friendly! We allow a maximum of 2 dogs max and the pet fee is $40/day (for a max $250 per stay). Pets must be crated if they are left home alone.
There is a ring camera at the front door entry only.
During winter storm events 4WD is required.
Book at least a week and a 10% discount is automatically applied (Excludes Christmas/New Years).
Stay with us and we offer DISCOUNTS on both summer (white water rafting, horseback riding etc.) and winter (ski/snowboard rentals, sleigh rides, snowmobile tours etc.) activities.
Cancellation Policy: A non-refundable payment of $300 is required at the time of booking. This $300 payment is applied toward the total amount due and is only refundable within 72 hours of the time of the booking is made. If your arrival date is within 30 days of booking, payment in full is required at the time of booking. Cancellations or changes to stay dates, including changes that result in a shortened stay, are not permitted within 30 days of arrival, and any such changes will result in a penalty. Cancellations or changes that are made within thirty (30) days of the arrival date, forfeit the entire reservation amount while cancellations made more than thirty (30) days in advance of your arrival only forfeit the $300 payment made at the time of booking. For reservations that are at least thirty (30) nights, the cancellation policy above increases to sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date. We do offer travel insurance.

Please note that, like most properties in the area, this home does not have AC, as it is uncommon for homes at this elevation. Temperatures inside the property are easily managed by using fans and opening the windows at night when temperatures drop into the 40s.

Very Nice Place Away from the Crowds

This is a very nice place, plenty of room, bedrooms, baths. The hot tub is very nice. The kitchen is clean. The bedrooms are all on the upper level, leavng pleny of room for gatherings in the main level. We would stay here again.

Durango vacation

We loved the house and found it to be just as advertised. The location was also great, far enough in the country for solitude and close enough to town for convenience. The kids especially loved the wildlife viewing and walking in the area.

An amazing getaway weekend!
Hour vacation rental experience was nothing short of perfect. We had all the amenities around us. The home was immaculate and had everything we needed to prepare meals and really enjoy a quality family/friend experience.Hot water stayed HOT for all 3 bathrooms, hot tub was maintained well and ready for us to saok after playing in the snow! We highly recommend VRC for a wonderful weekend getaway!

June vacation
The cabin was all that we expected. It had most everything we needed to enjoy our vacation. The best part might have been the weather, 60s and 70s as opposed to 100+, but the cabin was a great place to come back to after a day of fishing, hiking, golf and visiting Durango. I would recommend staying here.

Polar express stay!

We had 2 families stay at the house and there was the perfect amount of space. The kids loved all the toys and games they provide and the room they're in is right off the kitchen so they played while we cooked. And having 3 kings for the adults was perfect. We also really appreciated the fenced back yard for the pups. Would love to stay here again!

The place was easy to find located in gorgeous Bayfield, CO. It was everything you would expect, with nice touches (the dog run was amazing). While located in a gorgeous neighborhood the way the home is set up the feeling of privacy is undeniable.
