NOTE: 4WD/AWD required in winter with snow tires (Thanksgiving through late March). Chains can be rented in the neighborhood for $30/day. The driveway cannot accommodate trailers. In winter the garage is not accessible to vehicles and 2-3 cars max can be parked in front of the home (far enough from the roof so snow does not fall on your vehicle). Outside of winter, 1 vehicle can be parked in the garage.
Our custom built home features 6 bedrooms 4 bathrooms and sits on just over an acre and overlooks Columbine Lake. Just 1 mile from Purgatory Ski Resort and 25 miles from historic downtown Durango, the home offers privacy and seclusion. This home also features WIFI, washer/dryer, garage with space for one car and tons of gear and a fully stocked kitchen.
The home is perfect for multiple families with 3,700 square feet and since it is spread over 3 floors with the 5th and 6th bedrooms are located via the garage and includes a separate living space and small kitchenette. The huge deck with a dining table as well as an additional seating area is the perfect spot to relax any time of the day.

This home is pet friendly! We allow a maximum of 2 dogs max and the pet fee is $40/day (for a max $250 per stay).
Stay with us and we offer DISCOUNTS on both summer (white water rafting, horseback riding etc.) and winter (ski/snowboard rentals, sleigh rides, snowmobile tours etc.) activities.
Cancellation Policy: A non-refundable payment of $300 is required at the time of booking. This $300 payment is applied toward the total amount due and is only refundable within 72 hours of the time of the booking is made. If your arrival date is within 30 days of booking, payment in full is required at the time of booking. Cancellations or changes that result in a shortened stay, that are made within thirty (30) days of the arrival date, forfeit the entire reservation amount while cancellations made more than thirty (30) days in advance of your arrival only forfeit the $300 payment made at the time of booking. For reservations that are at least thirty (30) nights, the cancellation policy above increases to sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date. We do offer travel insurance.
Please note that, like most properties in the area, this home does not have AC, as it is uncommon for homes at this elevation. Temperatures inside the property are easily managed by using fans and opening the windows at night when temperatures drop into the 40s.
Perfect Ski Week
Had a wonderful week with the family! The location of the beautiful house was perfect for skiing (less than a mile from the ski resort) and close to snowmobiling and hot springs resorts and a short drive to Durango for groceries. The property management company was quick to respond with the few requests we had. Enjoyed The Nugget Bar which was right down the street and pizza from Olde Schoolhouse. Would recommend this property to all!

Wonderful stay
We had a great stay! It was only a 5 min drive to the mountain where skied everyday. If you have a large group I would definitely recommend this house!

Wonderful house!

This house was lovely! We had 14 people and it accommodated us very well. A separate apartment with 2 bedrooms, a living area and a kitchen were great for my son and DIL and their 3 little kids. Everybody else was on the 2nd and 3rd stories. Lots of outside seating with a gorgeous view of Columbine Lake. The kitchen was very well stocked. I wanted to cook for all my people and took a hand mixer and small food processor, but they had everything! We would definitely rent this house again if we returned to that area.

Beautiful Mountain Getaway
This was the perfect home for our family of 13! The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook with. The rooms are spacious and cozy. There are multiple decks to enjoy the stunning view. The location is perfect, as it is in between Durango and Silverton! The customer service was outstanding! This was our favorite family vacation location so far!

We cannot say enough good things about our experience, the outstanding communication, instructions, and help, when needed. This home was the perfect place for our family to gather for a winter wonderland vacation. We found the home to be spacious, well stocked, and very cozy, with plenty of windows to watch, as the snow just kept coming. Durango is charming, and the skiing was fabulous... even for a few of us beginners. We cannot wait to visit again!!

A heavenly stay!

Our week stay here was absolutely wonderful! The house had so much room for the 4 of us. (We could of had even more friends to come and enjoy!) Sitting outside on one of the many porches gave us a gorgeous sunrise over the mountains. The house was in a perfect location to go and see many sites and do many activities. We hated to leave!!

Wonderful place =equals= Wonderful Vacation. This is one of the best, if not the best place we have stayed at. You can trust what you see on the VRC website. The house and the location are exactly what you see and more. The house was very clean and it had everything we needed for our stay. Let me say, the view of the mountains are just Fantastic. The location made it so easy to get around to everything from shopping and all the fun things the area offers. There is something all ages. We found our day trips to Mesa Verde, Chimney Rock, Canyon of the Ancients and the Durango /Silverton Train easy to get to. We are planning to go back and bring more of the family. It is worth an encore. Again, just wonderful!

A wonderful week in Durango

First of all, the property was beautiful inside and out! The home truly felt like home. The views from the deck were beautiful with the lake below and the mountains in the distance. Watching the sunrise each morning was a must. The bedrooms were just so peaceful. The beds were comfortable and the bedding a good quality. I especially enjoyed watching the sunrise from the master bed on the mornings I didn’t make it down to the deck for a cup of coffee first! I also liked the private deck off the master bedroom. A perfect place for a quiet time.
The kitchen had everything we needed and then some. A drawer of spices in addition to a good amount of other baking needs. Plus the little things like foils and wraps and baggies. Well done!
And then there is the location. Easy to get to from the main road into Durango and just down the road from the Purgatory Ski Resort. We found plenty to do! The ski resort has fun summer activities- scenic chair lift rides, alpine slides, and a roller coaster. Horseback riding just down the road, razor rentals in Silverton, plus live music and FANTASTIC food at the James Ranch. Of course great hikes all around and ALWAYS shopping in Durango.
With all of the positives I mentioned above, I still haven’t mentioned one of the biggest - the weather! Coming from the South in July to a beautiful home with amazing views AND cool mornings and evenings AND low humidity is just a dream come true. I didn’t want to leave.
The staff at VRC was fantastic to work with. They were very quick to respond to my messages and very friendly when I spoke to them. I would recommend VRC and most definitely, this lovely home when planning your next vacation.
